Automotive Racing Products, Inc. has introduced a new style Rod Bolt Stretch Gauge as an aid to professional engine builders and serious enthusiasts. The ergonomically designed gauge, with a built-in handle, 
is designed to facilitate quickly and accurately measure the length of connecting rod bolts. Measuring rod bolt stretch is the most accurate method of determining its preload. Other methods, such as use of a torque wrench, are inconsistent —and greatly influenced by lubricant (there’s a difference up to 30% in readings, depending upon what is used —from engine oil to moly lube). ARP’s Rod Bolt Stretch Gauge serves another valuable function in that it can be used to determine 
if a fastener has been compromised and is about to fail.
