Newby has Winning on his Mind Heading into Summernationals on Home Soil:

Although he may not have registered a round victory so far in the 2008/09 season Australian Top Alcohol Championship; Wayne Newby is as determined and confident as ever to land in victory during this Friday and Saturday night’s Summernationals at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID).

With his ‘never say die’ type of attitude; Newby is looking to make every post a winner in the remaining three rounds of the Australian Top Alcohol Championship starting with this weekend’s Summernationals at his home track.

“There are three rounds left in the Australian Championship and I am looking to win all three of them in an attempt to finish the season off on a high and that can give us some confidence heading into next season,” Newby enthused. “It’s a long shot, but I am still in with a chance of taking out this season’s Australian Championship. To do that I would have to win the remaining three rounds and hope that the drivers ahead of me in the championship fail to make it past the first rounds of the remaining three rounds.”

The JBS Tools supported Dragster pilot is currently fourth in the Australian Championship point standings and if Newby has his way he won’t be there for too long.

“I cannot control how this season’s Australian Championship pans out, all I can do is concentrate on what my team do and the rest will take care of itself. It would be nice to finish the season inside the top three of the Australian Championship point standings,” mentioned Newby. “The aim is to try and win the remaining three rounds and I feel confident that we can achieve that. So far this season we have been building towards a round victory and despite not making a final so far this season we haven’t been too far off the mark and continue to build momentum.”

The Summernationals, which is the sixth round of the Australian Top Alcohol Championship, is to be held over three days from Friday through to Sunday.
